“I have found, my whole life, that I’ve had a problem dealing with society, because I’m dealing with that which is not obvious to the rest of society. I have found that the universe is actually operating in an entirely different way from the way society thinks it is. Society’s living in a sort of ‘fault.’ The kind of ‘fault’ I’m thinking of is like an earth fault, like a great cliff, a great discontinuity in the earth’s surface. There are great discontinuities in the public’s image of what the universe is.”
