“… One ball: nucleus 12 balls: first layer (radius 1); 42 balls: second layer (radius 2); 92 balls: third layer (radius 3): and so forth. Subtract common two from each total, then divide by 10; the remaining numbers (1, 4, 9, etc.) are the squares of radii. The number of balls in any layer = (radius² x 10) +2.”
